THE "'STURDI COVERS" ADVANTAGE
1. The unique gable design takes on the features of most houses and
buildings. This allows them to blend into a neighborhood, not stick
out like a sore thumb.
2. Because of the strength of the rigid frame, posts, and beams, the
posts can be attached directly to a 4" cement slab, or connect into dirt
with an optional screw-auger for most sizes.
3. The rigid frame strength eliminates the need for an angle connecting
the posts together at the bottom. Most other designs require a large
angle at the bottom between the posts, that can be a tripping hazard and
is definitely an unattractive nuisance.
4. The "STURDI COVERS" standard depth is 20' and has only 4 posts, 2
on each side. The posts are 12' apart with the roof sheets having
4' overhang, front and back. This leaves space, even for large 4-door
cars, to open their doors without hitting the posts. Most other designs
have post spacings that are much closer together. This makes it difficult
to open the doors without hitting a post, which can damage the vehicle
or even prevent exiting without repositioning the automobile.
5. The ALL-PURPOSE "STURDI COVERS" ARE DESIGNED to meet a 20 POUND
LIVE LOAD. Most generic covers are designed for 10 pounds or less.
In order to legally be used as a carport, or for commercial purposes, such
as covered work areas, the structure must meet a minimum of 20 pounds per
square foot live load.
6. In addition to our standard gable sizes, a shed roof with widths
of up to 16' span and 2' overhang, can be added to either or both sides
of the "STURDI COVERS".
7. The depth of the "STURDI COVERS" can be enlarged to 28' with 6 posts,
38' with 8 posts, or 48' with 10 posts, etc.
8. Additional heights are available up to 12' high at the post.
9. Using a 6" frame, the standard maximum width of a single span is
2 I' with 18' between posts.
10. Using an 8" frame, the standard maximum width of a single span is
27' with 24' between posts.
11. The manufacturer of "STURDI COVERS" has been in business since 1960.
12. "STURDI COVERS" can be engineered for other sizes and styles, including
enclosed models.
